Is it culture what you ate for lunch? What if everybody ate the same at the same hour, could we consider that culture, just because everybody lives the same situation? That’s the question this cultural and photo-book explores. When mundane experiences are shared across a countrie, does that shape the perception of peoples reality, and thus is shinning thorugh their actions, or does it have to be mediated to be considered a cultural representation?
“Cuentiao y chamullento” is a 116-page publication in 18 x 25 cm format that explores and shares moments, places, stories, and everything culturally related to Chile and its less documented culture. In an age where everything is connected, cultures start to mimic eachother, blurring the line where one ends and the other starts, is in that space, where niche and micro-actions have the power to light inspiration and represent the lives of people.
Worked around the Chile’s flag colors, twisting them to better suit a publication, 30+ entries that aim to describe actions, sayings, iconic people, shared experiences and more in a micro-story format, fully loaded with Chilean expressions that are well described in half-pages dedicated to authors notes, commentaries and descriptions for those eager to better understand such chaotic culture.
