While design in Chile, as a discipline and professional activity, has a history spanning approximately five decades, Pedro Álvarez Caselli’s book *Historia del Diseño Gráfico en Chile* (hDGch) seeks to understand this field as part of the historical development of national graphic design. However, the book traces its roots back to the origins of printing in Chile to provide a broader perspective.

“hDGch” is a 352-page publication in 18 x 25 cm format that presents the graphic history of our country through more than 400 images. In a digital age where print media faces challenges, this book’s editorial design takes the center stage thanks to the work of chilean designer and typographer Francisco Gálvez.

Special colors, a consistent design scheme to guide readers through the book’s ten chapters, and the creation of typefaces and characters designed specifically for this book are just some of the unique reading experiences offered by this publication, which pays tribute to graphic design in Chile.
